Ryan Dick

I am currently completing a Career Skills Program designed to prepare transitioning service members for careers in technical trades and home repair. I chose this program to expand my knowledge in home engineering and maintenance, to build a lasting career in the industry. My background in the military provided discipline, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic, but I wanted to pair that with specialized training that would allow me to work confidently in both residential and commercial settings.

Through this program, I have gained valuable hands-on experience in areas that I had little prior
exposure to, including plumbing systems, hot water heater installation and maintenance, and a
variety of other household fixtures. I also developed skills in basic electrical work,
troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues that can arise in homes. The blend of classroom
instruction and real-world application has helped me build both technical knowledge and
practical confidence.

Completing this course has reinforced my interest in pursuing a career in the home repair and
maintenance field. I am now equipped with the foundational skills needed to perform quality
work, communicate effectively with clients, and continue growing my expertise in the trade. My
goal is to use these skills to deliver reliable, customer-focused service and contribute to safer,
more efficient homes.
